I am often asked, "what is sex therapy?"

I spend a lot of time explaining what it is not, but I want to focus on what it is.

The word 'sex' in itself is heavy with taboo, secrecy, discomfort, and embarrassment.

I would argue, with passion and fervour, that sexual health and wellbeing is the 5th other ESSENTIAL component to physical health, mental health, emotional health, and spiritual health. I would argue that it is often left out and dismissed in medical and mental health spaces. I would argue that it's the forgotten component of holistic health and wellness.

Sex therapy is talk therapy for sexual concerns including, but not limited to:

*Erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, sexual pain, vaginismus, libido concerns, and sexual health problems

 *Relationship and intimacy issues

 *Exploring identity

 *Alternative relating styles

*Compulsive behaviours (sometimes called sex or porn addiction)

 *Learning about consent

*Seeking help and referrals for traumas previously unnamed.

Let’s open up the conversation on this topic and shine light where there has otherwise been a darkness that causes so much quiet suffering.
